Samsung have confirmed that they will launch at least three handsets this year with the Google Android OS. Two of these phones will be for the North American market. This latest move will increase the amount of Android handsets available; this means that consumers will now have another option instead of T-Mobile’s flagship G1.

We first learned of Samsung’s interest in offering Android handsets late last year, as the Korean company had started up a new team of Linux and Java experts, who will now be working on an Android touchscreen, Ars Technica tell us that the phone will be a lot like its Omnia handset.

A number of US carriers in the US have been cautious on Android handsets, with Verizon and AT&T declining to commit to Google Android. Both T-Mobile and Sprint were on board from the start, but it was T-Mobile who stood alone to bring the US the first Google OS handset.
