MASPware GuardMobile for Windows Mobile

MASPware GuardMobile for Windows Mobile

MASPware Guard Mobile MASPware GuardMobile is a security and control system for Windows Mobile devices. Its a silent, hidden program, which (e.g. after a thievery) executes commands remotely initiated by the device owner.

Protect your device and data! Even after a thievery and even after a sim-card change!

Here an application example:

Imaging, your cellular windows mobile device has been stolen. What can you do now?

  • You can initiate an alarm and lock the device
  • You can locate your device (GPS receiver is required)
  • If your stolen device contains top secret data, you can do a hardreset remotely to erase all data! (Use carfully!)
  • You can initiate a callback to overhear the thief

How does GuardMobile work?

The device owner installs and configures GuardMobile. He sets an arbitrary device PIN and adds cellular numbers, which can control this device, to totally prevent abuse. After activation, the program stays “silently” in background until its asked to do some action. When GuardMobile is active and “exited”, it does not use any program memory (only a few bytes) or cpu power! It is “sleeping” until it is asked to do some action (via SMS).

Since every device supports SMS nowadays, the whole communication is done via SMS, which means you can control your device using any other cellular phone (no Windows Mobile required!). No internet access is necessary. The device replies all actions with a confirmation SMS.

Features:

  • Very tiny, fast and “silent” program
  • integrated client application to control other devices
  • runs hidden in the background. It even survives softresets.
  • it can be removed completely by the device owner
  • uninstall protection
  • hidden file system
  • infocard (PDF) for printing (all commands for your pocket)
  • device localization (incl. instant map view!)
  • GSM cell id request
  • activation/deactivation of screenlock
  • activation/deactivation keylock
  • alarm (loud beeps and vibration) activation/deactivation
  • initiate callback
  • initiate soft/hardreset (please use with caution!)
  • Notification on sim-card change
  • Fail log enabled
  • Presets for clients (faster access)

Equipped with handwritten Chinese character recognition, the D980 makes it easy for users to send out messages in Chinese characters.

Beyond giving users access to dual SIM cards, the D980 also satisfies the consumer’s needs for multimedia entertainment with multi-format music and video support, as well as a five megapixel camera onboard. The TouchWiz user interface on the D980 streamlines navigation for an enjoyable experience.

June of 2009 Brings Google Android Samsung Phone

June of 2009 Brings Google Android Samsung Phone

June of 2009 Brings Google Android Samsung Phone

The HTC-sourced T-Mobile G1 currently enjoys a monopoly on the Android smartphone market, but that’s quickly changing.

In fact, Samsung is joining in on the Google fun by issuing an Android-powered smartphone to Sprint and T-Mobile some time next year.

Nothing has been 100% confirmed just yet, of course, but word is that Samsung is hard at work producing an Android-powered smartphone and it may even be on display at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year. If I’m lucky, they may have an early prototype in Las Vegas for CES next month, but that’s probably pretty unlikely.

As it stands, the yet-unnamed Samsung Android phone will be based largely on the Samsung Instinct and the Samsung Omnia, meaning that it will likely lack the physical QWERTY keyboard found on the T-Mobile G1. This seems to be the trend for Android phones, as some of the other Android phones in development from other firms are taking this iPhone-like approach as well.

New smartphone development 'accelerating'

Android heading to new handsets in '09

Samsung has announced that it is speeding up the development of its own version of an Android-powered handset in order to stay at the sharp end of the mobile phone market.

The company has confirmed it will sell a phone running Google's OS during 2009, which will hardly come as a shock considering the rumours that it and LG have been secretly showing prototypes for months.

"We are accelerating the development process for Google phones in order to meet the specific needs of local carriers," Samsung stated while making statement-like sounds in a statement.

US or them?

The company also confirmed T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel will be carrying the device, although presumably that's only in the US. TechRadar contacted both Samsung and T-Mobile in the UK to find out whether the new Samsung Android phone will follow the G1 onto T-Mobile too and we'll let you know as soon as any more information arises.

Although there still hasn't been a phone to follow the T-Mobile G1 handset onto the UK market sporting Android, there have been a number of handsets mooted and confirmed.

In November 2008, the Kogan Agora was tipped to be the next phone to sport Android, though it appears this handset has now been canned.

Since then, Motorola has announced it will be bringing an Android phone out in 2009 and we've seen prototypes from the likes of Lenovo and Touch Revolution in the last few months. The question now remains: will Samsung beat everyone to the punch and be the second onto the market?

Fring updated with new features for Windows Mobile smartphones

Fring updated with new features for Windows Mobile smartphones

A new dose of fring for Windows Mobile smartphones brings several much needed features to its mobile VoIP users. For instance, the latest release of fring for Windows Mobile (officially version 3.34) carries new & improved fring Add-ons. And it now supports the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and Samsung Omnia, to name a few.

What else is new in the updated fring for Windows Mobile? The File Transfer function is one, giving users the option to send digital files to all fring, Skype, MSN & Yahoo buddies at the click of a button. This is all done via the Internet, so wires/cables, Infrared connections, or Bluetooth pairing won’t be required.

Improvements to navigation and functionality have also been added, with the inclusion of a new ‘Go- To menu’, Privacy and ‘Joystick-In’ settings, typing indication and new Add-Ons Managment screen. These all add up to make the overall user experience simpler.

HTC users will be glad that they’re the only ones getting support for earpiece use in this update, so that they can carry on their VoIP conversations over an earpiece, but owners of other devices powered by Windows Mobile should feel the difference just the same.

News - Samsung Mobile Sets New Guinness World Record

Samsung Mobile Sets New Guinness World Record

image

Samsung mobile phones were used to set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest text message from dropping skydivers. The team of skydivers used the text messaging service from their smart phones while freefalling at 12,000 feet.

Samsung Telecommunications America has earned an entry in the Guinness World Record for the fastest text message sent from 12,000 feet. The skydivers had to text "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human" while freefalling.

"The team of 10 skydivers used a variety of Samsung Mobile messaging phones during this challenge, including the Samsung Propel, Samsung Gravity, Samsung Rant, Samsung Alias and Samsung Messager. Samsung Mobile created XTREME TEXTING as a unique way to promote its new lineup of text messaging phones," a Samsung spokesperson said in a statement.

The skydivers only had one minute to meet the obstacle. The text message was sent by their Samsung mobile phones before extracting their parachutes.

Once the skydivers glided to the ground, their Samsung smart phones were checked for accuracy. The event was caught on a camera where photos and a video was sent to the Guinness World Records in London for official judging.

One professional skydiver told us that it became demanding to handle the phone due to the soaring winds. However, a cord was attached to the mobile device which was easily recovered if dropped.

A previous mobile phone entry has made it to the Guinness World Records as the "Fastest Text Message" held by Jeremy Sng Gim of Singapore. Jeremy Sng Gim typed a 160 character phrase on his mobile phone in 41.40 seconds on February 24, 2008.
